Existential Crisis

The contemplation that dawns upon a human being when they realize that the people surrounding them have a subconscious of their own and are living as vividly as they are — that’s when the human mind opens. The existential crisis, more or less known as the feeling of self-realization of existence as a human being. Out of nowhere, thoughts such as What is life? Am I in a simulation? What is my purpose in this life? Start to spiral.

To begin with, when a certain stimulus or situation causes a person to question their existence and the universe as a whole, that’s when an existential crisis occurs. It causes our subconscious mind to open up and think from the perspective that everyone has a life just like ours. When we feel joy or anger and express our emotions, everyone else is experiencing it too. And suddenly, we are not alone. This dwells upon the topic of countless quantum realizations throughout many universes.

For example, you get triggered by a certain situation that causes you to enter fight or flight mode, and you think — Is life worth this? What if this whole life I’ve been surviving isn’t even real? Or am I just a pawn in someone’s play? These kinds of thoughts question the grim reality of our world. How little we are aware of it.

Additionally, it also makes you think that maybe you’re not as significant as you make yourself out to be. As a normal human being, even if your existence isn't served, you may not leave an ounce of impact on this world. What makes you feel that you're different might just be a dilemma in disguise.

But in contradiction, these thoughts make you self-aware. That everyone is working as hard as you, or even better than you. It questions your conscience and pushes you to make wise decisions that you can actually look forward to. It causes you to take your life in a different way, where you think about possible realities, even if you change just a minor detail. The clothes that you could’ve folded today may have landed you a job. If the leftovers of last week hadn’t been thrown out today, you wouldn’t have found that $10 bill beside the garbage can. The tiniest of details serve to impact your world the most.

To sum this up, dwelling on one's existence acts as the perfect realization — and also highlights one’s imperfections. Questioning reality and bending fortunes is what can be achieved when you take life the way you’re meant to take it. This perspective may change your beliefs, morals, and principles. It is you who chooses your path.
